Hey, guys! So, as many of you know, this past year has definitely the most monumental for both my personal life and my career. Coming into 2018 was super exciting but also pretty intimidating considering all of the changes that happened in December. In case you missed it, I got engaged to the love of my life, quit my job and took on photography full time all in the midst of moving out of our new apartment as my future husband takes on his next mission with the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in Italy. (I know right....)
After thinking about what the year ahead looks like, I had to think long and hard about my role as a charity walk organizer. Although I loved my job the past two years and was very thankful for the opportunities to travel and grow as a professional in the non-profit world, when I pictured how 2018 was going to go, working a full-time-desk-job in Towson just wasn't part of the plan. So, right before Christmas, I put in my notice and took a big risk. I...
Last weekend, I was honored to photograph my first rustic wedding in the woods and I couldn't be more thankful for the experience. This dreamy, hidden gem-of-a-venue in Edgewater was definitely my favorite location to date. These two love birds really nailed the woodsy vibes and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect way to spend my last weekend off of my full time job until after Thanksgiving!
The romance between Blake and Alex as well as the loving atmosphere created by the guests made my job super easy. Their story inspired me so much and everywhere I turned there was a special moment to capture. These two warriors truly deserved this perfect day and I wish them the greatest happiness. Congrats again to the Kitchens!
It’s always exciting when a backyard mini session turns into THIS. Ellie was a natural behind the camera and the color palette created by her dress and the scenery made my soul shine. Sessions like this are the epitome of why I love what I do. You would never guess that Ellie was a bit shy when we first arrived on site. After a little bit of chatting and joking around about instagram captions, Ellie and I became a great team. I am thankful that being a photographer allows me to connect with so many people of all ages with different personalities who have such a variety of stories and backgrounds. I think we pretty much nailed these headshots together and I look forward to working with this beauty in the future.
I can’t believe this little lady is already one years old! I was honored to have front row seats for my cousin’s daughter’s First Birthday Cake Smash and introduce her to her first whimsical woodsy session with The ShutterBee Effect. There is just something special about these backyard mini sessions! Hope this princess had a magical day. Happy birthday again, Jessica!
As a full time event planner, competitive cheer coach and a photographer, life can get pretty hectic and sometimes it seems like I’m a bit all over the place. I met the Wilson family through our connection in the cheer world which is pretty humbling to see my worlds overlap. I’m thankful that wearing multiple hats in my work life leads me to not only gaining new clients, but also making new friends. I now feel closer to the Wilson family and can’t wait to get to know them even better as competition season approaches. Are these not the most heartwarming moments?! I had a blast spending time with these goofballs and was honored to capture their personalities in this mini session.
When I first thought about rebranding my photography business, it was my priority to communicate who I am as an artist, as an entrepreneur and as a 20-something year old woman with a vision for compassion through every detail of the creative process. As a photographer that has a strong belief that every action - no matter how small - has a larger effect on the world, I wanted to find a name that better represented that motto than the one I had. I also wanted my new business name to incorporate camera references, give off woodsy vibes and be noticeably "Britt."
After many hours of thoughtful conversations with my patient and talented boyfriend, my passionate family and some of my most creative and thoughtful friends, I knew that nailing down a name was one of the, if not the most important step in redefining my business. That being said, I am proud to finally announce that as of today, September 4, 2017 my photography business will now be known as:
This session was definitely one of my favorites to date. Photographing kids is always unpredictable and that’s what I love about it! The vibe of the shoot is totally in their tiny hands. Add a few toys, a cute costume and a cupcake and you can definitely help them find their happy place. Charleigh and her unicorn accessories melted my heart this past weekend. She was cracking up throughout the entire session which made my job super easy! Shout out to her Mommy and Mimi for making all of my Pinterest dreams come true with these props. Happy 1st birthday, Charleigh!
My heart melted over and over again this week with cuteness overload and Jess & Ty’s Maternity Session definitely did not disappoint. Maternity sessions are so incredibly magnificent because all I can think about the entire shoot is that there is a HUMAN growing inside a tummy love garden & that I am lucky enough to be there to witness and capture the anticipation of this new, innocent life. These two goofballs (and their pup) made it clear that their baby girl will be entering a home full of love and laughter. PLUS, this session was even more special because Jess is sisters with one of my very best friends. I am so thankful for sessions like these and I am already antsy for baby Magowitz’s arrival! Congrats again, Jess and Ty!
This past weekend, I had the honor of reconnecting with an old friend that worked with my mom back when I was just an itty bitty. It was fun to listen to Kathleen talk about me in my carseat days while snapping shots of her and her teenaged son who wasn’t around just yet the last time we spent time together. Moments like this inspire me to a step back and realize how art connects and reconnects us. It felt really full circle.
It was heartwarming to see Kathleen’s unconditional love for her son during this mini session and be a part of their bonding time full of laughs and mother-son-fun. Saturday evenings like this definitely give life to any weekend. Great to see you again, Kathleen!
As many of you know, I have been quite busy with my photography business lately. After months of planning and strategizing in my own mind and partnering with talented people, I am almost ready to share my rebranding project with you all! This Labor Day, September 4, I will be announcing my new business name, a personalized logo, and a completely revamped website that all represent my new identity.
I decided to launch the finished product on Labor Day to celebrate all the *work work work work work* that I’ve done to grow as an entrepreneur and follow my dreams of having a job that allows me to do creative work, connect to people and learn something new every day. Stay tuned for the launch announcement next week! In the meantime, follow me on Facebook and Instagram for updates!
